The SILVA Expedition S is for experienced hikers and adventurers. Renowned for its high accuracy and durability, the EXPEDITION S compass is equipped with new features, a lanyard with measuring scale and a clinometer to measure slopes.
If you need a traditional baseplate compass with high-end features, the Expedition should be your choice. Comes with an easy-to-handle Dryflex case, silicone rubber feet for precision map work, removable safety cord, nighttime light markings, magnifying glass, slope angle clinometer, mm and inch map scales, 1:25,000, 1:50,000, and GPS scales, as well as integrated ranging devices for magnetic delineation (including permanent local ranging). The experiment can also measure at 1:40,000.
Sighting mirror features:
The Expedition S can also measure at 1:40,000 and comes with an inclinometer to measure slope angle and 45-degree angle assistance on the sighting mirror function. The mirror sight function is perfect for determining direction over long distances.
Detecting the risk of avalanche:
The inclinometer is ideal for both detecting the risk of avalanche and determining how difficult your trip will be. By knowing the slope, you can also estimate how much further you have to travel because of the slope. The scale cord has two scales, 1:25, and 1:50, making it easy to measure the distance of your hike. It is easily handled and folded which makes it easy to use and place on the map.
